Sky Germany reports that 1.FC Köln and VfB Stuttgart are both interested in SC Freiburg midfielder Yannik Keitel.
Keitel has previously held talks with Köln over a potential transfer and is impressed with the club and can see himself moving to Köln. However, there is no agreement yet and further talks are still set to take place. Keitel could well be viewed as a replacement for Ellyes Skhiri, who leaves the club at the end of the month.
Stuttgart have also held initial talks with the 23-year-old over a potential move. Keitel’s contract at Freiburg expires in 2024, having been promoted from Freiburg II in 2020. Keitel has been a part of the Freiburg Academy for 12 years since moving from his local team in 2011.
The midfielder played 31 times for Freiburg last season with most of his appearances coming off of the bench. Keitel also played in all three of Germany’s under-21 Euros games as they were eliminated at the group stages.
