Eintracht Braunschweig

Braunschweig have been treading water for much of the campaign, but a run of just one win in their last six matches has pulled them dangerously back toward the relegation scrap. Heiner Backhaus’ side sit 14th, only two points clear of the bottom three, and fully aware that any further slip could prove costly.

Last time out, Die Löwen fell to a 3-1 defeat away at promotion-chasing Elversberg. Despite a spirited first-half showing - Aaron Opoku pulling one back to offer hope - the hosts’ quality ultimately told. Braunschweig held firm until the 75th minute before David Mokwa effectively sealed the contest, underlining the gap between the sides over the course of 90 minutes.

Backhaus has made no secret of what is required at this stage of the season:

“Therefore, the pragmatic focus now is on getting points. We have to take the game as it comes. It's a very serious match that we have to play because points at home against Münster are a must.”

Home form offers some encouragement. Braunschweig have lost just one of their last six at the Eintracht-Stadion and will look to turn that resilience into a decisive edge on Sunday. Their last victory over Münster came back in 2020 in the 3. Liga.

Team news: Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Fredrik Jäkel and Lino Tempelmann are unavailable.

Predicted lineup (3-4-2-1): Kastrati (GK) - Ehlers, Nkoa, Frenkert - Gomez, Aydin, Marie, Bell Bell - Mijatović, Opoku - Yardimici

SC Preußen Münster

Münster arrive in even more troubling form. Alexander Ende’s men are winless in their first six matches of 2026, a run that has dragged them into the bottom three. They currently sit 16th in what remains a tightly congested lower half of the table.

Their 3-2 home defeat to Kaiserslautern last weekend was a frustrating summary of recent weeks. As has often been the case, Münster dominated possession but lacked cutting edge at key moments. Jannis Heuer’s brace ultimately proved in vain as defensive lapses undermined otherwise promising spells.

Ende, however, retains full belief in his squad:

“I know what this team is capable of and that they are a really good squad in every aspect, even if we have lacked the necessary consistency in one or two areas recently. Their work ethic is 100 percent there,”

There is at least positive recent history to draw upon. Münster won the reverse fixture 3-1 in September at the Preußenstadion. However, with just two away victories all season, they must significantly improve on the road if they are to boost their survival hopes.

Team news: Antonio Tikvić, Simon Scherder and Malik Batmaz are ruled out with cruciate ligament injuries. Luca Bolay, Lars Lokotsch and Tobias Raschl are sidelined following injuries sustained against Kaiserslautern. Marvin Benjamins is unavailable due to illness. Zidan Sertdemir and Marvin Schulz returned to training after mild infections but remain doubtful.

Predicted lineup (4-4-2 Diamond): Schenk (GK) - ter Horst, Jaeckel, Heuer, Kirkeskov - Benger - Bouchama, Hendrix - Raschl - Rondić, Batista Meier
