Fürth’s predicament is becoming increasingly perilous. Rooted to the foot of the table on 19 points, they are in genuine danger of being cut adrift if the sides above them continue to accumulate results. The Franconians have managed just one victory from their last 10 league outings - and only one since Heiko Vogel’s appointment in December - a run that has left little margin for error heading into the final stretch.
A frustrating 1-0 defeat away at Kaiserslautern last time out summed up their campaign. While the division’s leakiest defence (53 goals conceded) held firm for much of the afternoon, the attacking unit faltered badly, producing just two shots on target and failing to score for the third time in five matches.
Vogel is under no illusions about the gravity of the situation:
“The games are dwindling, there are fewer opportunities to pick up points, so there are no more unimportant games for us.”
Home comforts have been scarce - Fürth have not won at home since November 2025. However, they can draw confidence from the reverse fixture in September, when they secured a 3-1 victory at the SchücoArena thanks to goals from Noel Futkeu, Marco John and Felix Klaus.
Team news:
Gian-Luca Itter, Felix Klaus, Julian Green, Timo Schlieck, Marco John, David Abrangao and Sacha Bansé are unavailable.
Predicted lineup (3-4-1-2): Prüfrock (GK) - Elvedi, Ziereis, Münz - Reich, Arifi, Will, Keller - Hrgota - Futkeu, Ltaief
After being dragged toward the relegation picture by a eight-match winless run spanning the end of 2025 and the start of the new year, Arminia have responded impressively. Back-to-back victories have lifted them to 10th in the table, providing a welcome cushion between themselves and the bottom three.
Their most recent outing - a composed 2-0 win away at Magdeburg - mirrored the disciplined, efficient displays that characterised their early-season form under Mitch Kniat. Defensive organisation and clinical finishing proved decisive, with Maximilian Bauer and Benjamin Boakye converting the key moments.
Kniat is keen to keep the focus internal rather than dwelling on Fürth’s struggles:
“We have to try to move the ball cleanly and push Fürth back into their own half. They defend compactly and deep, so it's important that we find the right gaps. But above all, it's important to focus on ourselves and build on last week's performance.”
That victory in Magdeburg marked Arminia’s first away success of the season - and it arrived at the perfect time. Momentum is now on their side as they look to defeat Fürth for the first time since 2020.
Team news:
Felix Hagmann and Leon Schneider are unavailable for the visitors.
Predicted lineup (4-3-3):
Kersken (GK) - Lannert, Knoche, Bauer, Handwerker - Russo, Corboz, Wörl - Momuluh, Uldrikis, Rochelt
