Holstein Kiel entertain Osnabrück on Saturday afternoon as they both hope to recover from last week’s defeats. The hosts conceded late against Heidenheim, while the newcomers were defeated at home by league leaders Hertha BSC on the same day.
Robin Meißner, who scored in the previous two games, missed a penalty-kick against the club from the capital city. Timo Schulz’s men started the matchday in tenth place with six points from the first five rounds.
Kiel are yet to lose at Holstein-Stadion, but they sit bottom of the standings with only three points. The only winless side in the 2. Bundesliga could think about replacing Tim Walter during the international break if that streak extends on Saturday.
The Storks recorded a 4-0 win the last time the teams met in the 2023/24 campaign. Osnabrück’s last win in Kiel was recorded in 2021 with a couple of first-half goals in a 2-1 victory.
Team News
Jonas Therkelsen is suspended after his red card at Voith-Arena. Ismail Badjie, who scored the winner against Bochum, is the only player on Osnabrück’s injury list.
