There were big wins for Paderborn and Kaiserslautern, who kept pace with the promotion contenders, while Münster and Dresden served up an entertaining draw.

SC Paderborn 4-3 Arminia Bielefeld

The visitors struck first in the 16th minute when Joel Grodowski converted from the spot after Mattes Hansen fouled Thaddäus-Monju Momuluh. Paderborn hit back ten minutes later as Mika Baur calmly slotted past Jonas Kersken.

Bielefeld stunned the Home Deluxe Arena again just three minutes later - some fine interplay between Grodowski and Momuluh left the latter with a simple tap-in to restore the lead at 1-2, an advantage they held into the break.

Whatever was said in the Paderborn dressing room clearly had an effect. Just five minutes after the restart, Steffen Tigges pounced to level the scores once more, and moments later Baur was felled in the box, allowing Filip Bilbija to fire home from the spot and give the hosts their first lead of the afternoon.

Paderborn continued to dominate and extended their advantage just past the hour mark when Tigges nodded in from a corner to make it 4-2. Bielefeld were handed a lifeline with a second penalty, Tim Handwerker converting to set up a tense final 15 minutes.

The hosts held firm through nine minutes of added time to win their fifth in a row and move temporarily up to second, while Bielefeld drop to tenth and remain winless in four.

Karlsruher SC 2-3 1. FC Kaiserslautern

This fiery derby lived up to its billing from the off. Ivan Prtajin continued his red-hot form, flicking in a Mika Haas effort in the 11th minute to give Lautern the lead and notch his eighth goal of the campaign. The intensity never dipped, with five yellow cards shown in a bruising first half that ended 0-1.

Lautern struck again early in the second half when Naatan Skyttä finished via a deflection to make it 0-2 after a sharp counterattack. But just four minutes later, Fabian Schleusener pounced on a rebound to halve the deficit and reignite KSC hopes.

The hosts poured forward relentlessly, forcing Lautern head coach Torsten Lieberknecht into defensive changes to protect the lead. That approach backfired in the 83rd minute as Lilian Egloff poked home the equaliser after sustained pressure from KSC.

But in the 93rd minute came the final twist - KSC over-committed forward, and Lautern launched a devastating counter. Daniel Hanslik released Marlon Ritter down the right, who coolly finished into the far corner to spark wild scenes in the away end.

After a late flurry of bookings, Kaiserslautern held on for a thrilling 3-2 win - moving up to fourth for now - while KSC, visibly deflated, remain seventh.

Preußen Münster 2-2 Dynamo Dresden

The hosts started brightly, Zidan Sertdemir seeing his effort cleared off the line by Lukas Boeder, before Lars Lokotsch rattled the crossbar from distance moments later, delivering another warning Dresden’s way.

Despite Münster’s early dominance, it was Dresden who struck first in the 23rd minute as Alexander Rossipal curled a magnificent free-kick over the wall and into the top corner, leaving Johannes Schenk helpless. The goal took the sting out of the contest, and Dresden comfortably saw out their lead to half-time.

Six minutes after the restart, Münster hit back. Dresden failed to clear their lines, allowing Jorrit Hendrix to chest the ball down and volley home superbly to make it 1-1 - his first goal of the season. Ultimately, Alexander Ende’s side couldn’t build on that momentum and were punished again in the 70th minute when Lars Bünning rose highest to head home from a corner and restore Dresden’s advantage.

Fifteen minutes later, Bünning went from hero to villain. Luca Bolay drove into the box and shot, with the Dresden defender helplessly diverting the ball into his own net after it rebounded off the post, gifting Münster an equaliser.

A late red card for Dresden substitute Stefan Kutschke - dismissed for a reckless challenge on Hendrix - ended a frustrating afternoon for both sides.

The point does little for either team: Münster climb to 11th but have just one win in their last five, while Dresden rise to 15th yet remain winless in six, leaving Thomas Stamm’s men with much to ponder.
