2. Bundesliga Saturday Review: Schalke prevail in Magdeburg, First win for Nürnberg | OneFootball

All three Saturday afternoon games ended in favor of the away teams, while Miroslav Klose’s Nürnberg finally won a game.

Nürnberg 2-1 Bochum

It took them seven games, but Nürnberg finally managed their first win of the season. Julian Justvan scored their first home goal of the season with a solo strike against Bochum in the 68th minute. The visitors looked to return home with a point after Ibrahim Sissoko’s penalty-kick, but Der Club nicked the three points at the death.

Nürnberg’s deadline day signing Adriano Grimaldi scored a 92nd-minute winner with a powerful header from Berkay Yilmaz’s inviting free-kick. The striker, who scored twice in Paderborn’s Pokal win over Viktoria Köln, was only brought on a couple of minutes earlier for his home debut.

Magdeburg 0-2 Schalke

Courtesy of their captain, Schalke returned to winning ways in Magdeburg. Kenan Karaman scored on either side of the half-time break to put them only a single point off league leaders Darmstadt.

The veteran striker opened the scoring with a sublime finish in the 10th minute. He netted his third of the season from a penalty-kick. Magdeburg dropped to the bottom of the standings after Nürnberg’s win in the Topspiel.

Hertha Berlin 0-2 Paderborn

Filip Bilbija also reached three goals for the season after his brace in Paderborn’s win in the capital city. Like Karaman, the Berlin-born striker’s second goal came from a second-half penalty-kick.

And, his first goal was a curling effort to beat Tjark Ernst in Hertha’s goal. Stefan Leitl’s team is yet to score at home this season, and they lost momentum once again despite their superb 3-0 victory in Hannover last time out.

Eintracht Braunschweig 1-4 SV Elversberg

Younes Ebnoutalib scored a brace for the third game running to help Elversberg secure their biggest win of the season in Braunschweig. The 22-year-old striker had no goals in his first seven appearances for the club, and he didn’t start a game this season before matchday four.

However, he has been in unstoppable form since then, scoring six times in three matches. The win means Elversberg are level on points with Darmstadt and Hannover at the top of the standings. Meanwhile, Ebnoutalib leads the scoring charts alongside Darmstadt’s Isac Lidberg.
