After going behind twice in the first-half, Wolfsburg picked up three points away from Karlsruhe on Saturday afternoon. Tobias Strobl’s side are living up to expectations as they now collect seven points from their first three 2. Bundesliga encounters.
Shio Fukuda scored the first goal Wolfsburg conceded in the division in his maiden 2. Bundesliga appearance of the season. However, Alexander Bernhardsson immediately levelled the score in his first league game for Wolfsburg.
Louey Ben Farhat could still leave Karlsruhe in the next few days, but his assist to the captain Marvin Wantizek put the hosts back in front as the first 12 minutes produced three goals.
The visitors took the lead before the break thanks to Fabian Reese and Vini Souza as the first 45 minutes had more goals than yesterday’s Hertha’s victory over Eintracht Braunschweig. The promotion candidates added two late goals to run out 5-2 winners at the end.
The captain Hauke Wahl and Reese scored the goals as four of Wolfsburg’s strikes came from summer signings. The former Hertha BSC attacker already registered three goals and an assist in the opening three matchdays of the 2. Bundesliga season.
Wolfsburg will face newcomers Energie Cottbus at home next week, while Karlsruhe will travel to another 2. Bundesliga giants Hannover.
