Alterations are needed after a disappointing night at the CBS Arena

Blackburn Rovers were beaten for the first time in the Championship this season on Tuesday night, losing 3-0 to Coventry City at The CBS Arena.

The hosts took the lead with just ten minutes on the clock, when Jake Bidwell headed in from a free-kick.

They would then double their advantage just after half-time, as Haji Wright took advantage of a defensive mix-up to fire a deflected effort past Aynsley Pears.

With just over five minutes remaining, the Sky Blues then sealed the win when Brandon Thomas-Asante fired home after some more slack defending.

That brought an end to Rovers' unbeaten start to the league season, although they have still taken 15 points from eight games so far.

Head coach John Eustace will be keen to see his side bounce back from this quickly, when they make the trip to Plymouth Argyle in the final game before the international break this weekend.

On the back of this defeat, he may be inclined to make changes, and we've looked at two things he may have learnt about his Blackburn side in this loss that might lead to those alterations, right here.

Yuki Ohashi should not continue at centre-forward

There can be no denying that Yuki Ohashi has made an excellent start to life in the Championship following his move from Safrecce Hiroshima in the summer transfer window.

The Japanese attacker is currently Rovers' top scorer, with five goals in all competitions. Many of those have been excellent finishes that have helped the club pick up some vital points.

In more recent games however, Ohashi has found himself playing as a sole centre-forward for Blackburn.

That was again the case against Coventry on Tuesday, and again, it felt like he struggled in the role.

While Ohashi's work rate is still impressive, this is a position in which he feels largely anonymous, finding it hard to win duels against physical defenders, and lacking someone to link with.

This situation also makes it hard for him to get into positions where he can take advantage of his movement to get away from defenders, since he is their main focus, and get into positions where he can take his chances.

As a result, it feels that if Eustace is to get the most out of his attacking options, Ohashi needs to be played in a deeper role, where he can take advantage of the more physical Makhtar Gueye making life difficult for opposition defenders.

Amario Cozier-Duberry needs to be starting for Blackburn

Perhaps one positive for Blackburn from the defeat at Coventry, was the cameo produced from the bench by Amario Cozier-Duberry.

The on-loan Brighton winger is still yet to start since his temporary move to Ewood Park on deadline day, but has come off the bench in each of the last four league games.

When doing so on Tuesday night, the former Arsenal youngster certainly looked to have a spark to his touch.

Indeed, he was one of the few one the night who appeared as though he might have been able to make things happen for Blackburn.

He also showed his end product with a recent hat-trick for the Under 21s, and it certainly seems as though he is confident he can make an impact.

By contrast, Andi Weimann had a quiet night on the right-wing for Rovers, with the 33-year-old perhaps feeling the strain after a busy start to the season.

In Cozier-Duberry though, Blackburn do have a clear like for like replacement, who on the back of this, Eustace may feel it is time to give a chance to right from the off.
