The group stage of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations wrapped up on Monday, July 14, 2025. Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Mali have all advanced to the quarter-finals after three action-packed matchdays.
This 15th edition of the Women's AFCON saw the group phase conclude tonight, confirming the eight teams that will battle for continental glory. Morocco, the host nation, topped Group A after a narrow 1-0 win over Senegal at the Rabat Olympic Stadium. Despite the defeat, the Lionesses of Teranga still managed to qualify, claiming the spot as the best third-placed team. The Copper Queens of Zambia, second in Group A with 7 points, also secured a quarter-final berth.
In Group B, Nigeria asserted their dominance, cruising past Tunisia 3-0 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The Super Falcons finished top of the group with 7 points. Algeria delivered a shock, securing a historic quarter-final qualification after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Botswana.
Group C was full of drama and unexpected twists. Defending champions South Africa finished top of their group after a resounding 4-0 triumph over Mali on Monday night. The Black Queens of Ghana snatched qualification by the narrowest of margins, finishing second in Group C with 4 points and a superior goal difference over Mali. The Lady Eagles, who had already booked their ticket to the next round prior to this final match, ended up third in the group.
