In one of the most anticipated clashes of the 2024 Women's AFCON quarter-finals, Stade Larbi Zaouli hosted the showdown between Nigeria and Zambia this afternoon. Dominant from start to finish, the Super Falcons wrapped up the contest without breaking a sweat.

A show of strength from the opening minutes

The Nigerians took the lead as early as the 2nd minute with a header from Osinachi Ohale off a well-delivered free kick by Esther Okoronkwo. The Nigerian winger then made her mark by scoring the second goal herself in the 33rd minute after a slick combination with Rasheedat Ajibade. In the 68th minute, Oluwatosin Demehin found the net with a header from a set-piece, before Folashade Ijamilusi rounded off the attacking display in stoppage time (90’+1) following a cross from Rasheedat Ajibade.

With this resounding victory, Nigeria cements its status as tournament favorites and advances to the Women's AFCON semi-finals for the 14th time in its history. The Super Falcons will face the winner of the Algeria vs Morocco clash, aiming to return to a final they have contested 11 times before.
