The nominees have been revealed for the 2026 Ballon d'Or ahead of the award's presentation next month.
Football's most prestigious individual award will be presented at a landmark ceremony, in what appears an open race to be crowned football's best.
Harry Kane is regarded among the favourites, after scoring 61 goals in 51 games for German double winners Bayern Munich. The 32-year-old is aiming to become the first Englishman to win the award since 2001.
Kylian Mbappe outlined his belief that he should be presented with the 2026 Ballon d'Or this week, after becoming the World Cup's all-time leading scorer in the summer.
Rodri, who captained Spain to World Cup success and was named Player of the Tournament, is a contender to win the Ballon d'Or for a second time, after his success in 2024.
Elsewhere,Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is considered a strong chance after starring during Paris Saint-Germain's success in the Champions League. The Georgian winger was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 10 times in 16 games.
The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026. This will be the 70th anniversary of football's biggest individual honour, and the landmark ceremony will break tradition by being held in London, England, rather than Paris. The move to London is in honour of theaward's first winner, Sir Stanley Matthews.
