FIFA and Visa have officially announced a major partnership concerning ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. As FIFA’s official payment technology partner, Visa will give its cardholders—whether debit, credit, or reloadable prepaid cards—exclusive early access to a ticket presale.

This unprecedented initiative will take the form of a lottery, organized from September 10 to 19, 2025, called the “Visa presale lottery”. Participants with a Visa card will be able to register for a chance to be selected. The lucky winners of the draw will have the opportunity to purchase tickets before sales officially open to the general public.

The launch of this initiative took place during an event in Washington, dubbed the “Visa Payments Vault”, attended by government representatives from all three host countries. Stefano M. Stoppani, Visa’s Country Manager for Italy, commented on the announcement, emphasizing the unprecedented nature of the lottery.

This Visa presale system marks a turning point in the way World Cup tickets will be distributed. By prioritizing early access for a specific segment of consumers—Visa cardholders—FIFA and Visa are changing the traditional ticket sales process.

For fans, this means you’ll need a Visa card to benefit from this exclusive presale and take your shot in the lottery. This system adds a new step to the quest for tickets, which are always highly coveted and notoriously hard to get.
