Records and feats are meant to be matched and broken, especially at clubs like Barcelona. Every player who plays for the Catalan giants aspires for greatness, and reaching it is a possibility they all have. However, there are some at Barcelona who manage it, and it can be quite a wonderful watch.

The journey for young Fermin Lopez to the Barcelona first team is hardly perfect, and it had some undeniable complications behind it as well. Eventually, however, after a loan move to Linares and time with the subsidiary, the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder fought hard and managed to impress his way into the first team following a memorable preseason under Xavi Hernandez.

Now, with Hansi Flick in charge, the Spaniard wanted to reach even greater heights possibly. However, he was unfortunately left on the sidelines due to an injury he suffered earlier on in the season, but that did not stop him from making a big statement just recently.

In the 7-1 thrashing of Valencia, Fermin Lopez was undeniably the man of the moment. He produced a perfect performance that saw him not only contribute directly to the goals themselves, but also saw him play a great game of football.

Moreover, his two goals and two assists were something of a historic achievement as well in their own right. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the last time a Barcelona player managed to score twice and provide two assists in the same La Liga game was back on the 29th of October in 2019, exactly 1916 days ago.

Interestingly, the player who managed to do that was none other than Lionel Messi himself in a game against Real Valladolid at the Camp Nou. Barcelona would go on to win that game 5-1, and Fermin Lopez has now recreated that extraordinary feat himself in the game against Valencia.

In fact, no other player across the league has managed that feat this season. Stars like Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Antoine Griezmann, and others have failed to have that sort of a complete game just yet. Fermin Lopez, on the other hand, has now become the first player this season in La Liga to manage it.
