Liverpool will soon need to replace their club legend and a 21-year-old super talent is showing he will do it.

It's a time of metamorphosis at Anfield. Liverpool are in the middle of replacing the old icons who helped the club reach its pinnacle and bring in new stars who can take the baton from them and continue the success.

We've already seen the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold depart.

But their exodus was just the beginning. Arne Slot could be given his marching orders very soon if thing do not improve.

More of his Premier League winners squad are going to be departing soon.

Mo Salah will likely leave in the summer and he will be followed by Virgil van Dijk and potentially Alisson - maybe not this summer but definitely next summer.

A lot of attention has been on Van Dijk and Salah and their potential replacements, so Alisson has gone under the radar.

Sure, Liverpool have Giorgi Mamardashvili who seems like an ideal successor. However, Liverpool can't put their eggs all in one basket - especially when the Georgian hasn't been entirely convincing when stepping into Alisson's shoes this season.

Mamardashvili is a competent back-up but can he be trusted to be the no.1? Or perhaps Liverpool should have two no.1s instead competing for the same spot?

After Alisson's departure, the latter makes the most sense. Mamardashvili is still young for a goalkeeper and he may benefit from added competition and working alongside someone who is just as eager and hungry to oust him from the no.1 spot.

Right now, Alisson's contract expires in the summer of 2027 after the club decided to activate an extension on his deal that would have expired in 2026.

So, we don't have to worry about replacing the Brazilian just yet. Unless, Liverpool decide to surprise us all and let Alisson either leave on a free or for a fee if they extend his contract.

There have been times when it felt like Alisson has been open to returning to Brazil so it is something to keep an eye on. Especially because his injury problems keep mounting.

Fortunately, Liverpool are well-placed to find his successor. The club has an excellent track-record with goalkeepers and right now there is an outstanding young super talent already on the books at Liverpool, who seems like he could be the perfect successor to Alisson's throne.

Armin Pecsi arrived with little funfair at Liverpool. Despite spending pre-season with the first-team, the Reds made it very clear that they saw the Hungarian as a signing for the U21s last summer.

It's where Pecsi has been spending most of his time. He's sat on the bench with the first-team a couple of times but mostly, he's been playing with the U21s, where he has caught the eye.

The Hungarian shot-stopper has been crucial in Rob Page's side's late resurgence in the league, helping them qualify for the Premier League 2 play-offs and preventing a myriad of goals in the process.

Pecsi is not only a very flexible shot-stopper who is extremely fast, but he also reacts brilliantly to situations - which is exactly what you want from your goalkeeper.

His footballing IQ is already very high for a player of his age and that is why he seems like the ideal long-term replacement for club legend, Alisson.

He is very similar to Alisson in terms of his ability to come off his line. Pecsi is fast and he's very good in one vs one situations, meaning even when his defence exposes him, he can prevent the opposition from scoring.

At 21-years-old, he's still extremely young for a goalkeeper, but he is absolutely one of the brightest talents out there in European football at the moment.

That's why he was nominated for the Golden Ball last year, and finished second among goalkeepers in the rankings.

Pecsi's ability to come out and smother opposition attackers makes him the ideal and inevitable Alisson heir.

It won't be easy for anyone to live up to the Brazilian's reputation. Alisson is a club legend for everything that he achieved at Anfield. However, if anyone can do it at Liverpool, based on what he has shown so far, it's Pecsi.

Keep an eye out on this exciting wonderkid.
