Liverpool will soon need to replace their club legend and a 21-year-old super talent could do it.

It's a time of metamorphosis at Anfield. Liverpool are in the middle of replacing the old icons who helped the club reach its pinnacle and bring in new stars who can take the baton from them and continue the success.

We've already seen the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold depart.

But their exodus was just the beginning. Mo Salah is likely going to depart in the summer and he will be followed shortly by Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

Everyone is focusing on replacements for Van Dijk and Salah at the moment, so Alisson has gone under the radar.

Sure, Liverpool have Giorgi Mamardashvili who seems like an ideal successor. However, Liverpool may need more depth than that.

Mamardashvili is a competent back-up but can he be trusted to be the no.1? Or perhaps Liverpool should have two no.1s instead competing for the same spot?

After Alisson's departure, the latter makes the most sense. Mamardashvili is still young for a goalkeeper and he may benefit from added competition and working alongside someone who is just as eager and hungry to oust him from the no.1 spot.

Right now, Alisson's contract expires in the summer of 2026. The club has an option to extend the deal until 2027, and they likely will.

So, we don't have to worry about replacing the Brazilian just yet. Unless, Liverpool decide to surprise us all and let Alisson either leave on a free or for a fee if they extend his contract.

There have been times when it felt like Alisson has been open to returning to Brazil so it is something to keep an eye on.

Fortunately, Liverpool are well-placed to find his successor. The club has an excellent track-record with goalkeepers and right now there is an outstanding young super talent in Europe's top five leagues who seems like he could be the perfect successor to Alisson's throne.

Let us introduce you to RC Lens' 21-year-old goalkeeper Robin Risser. The France U21 international has been ever-present in a side going toe to toe with Paris Saint Germain in Ligue 1 this season.

He's played a key role in Lens' success.

Currently, Risser has prevented 4.56 goals in Ligue 1, which is the second highest among goalkeepers in the competition in the current campaign.

He also has a save rate of 77%, which is the third highest among goalkeepers.

Risser does exactly what you ask from a goalkeeper. He prevents goals and makes important stops. But there's more to him than that.

He is very similar to Alisson in terms of his ability to come off his line. Risser is fast and he's very good in one vs one situations, meaning even when his defence exposes him, he can prevent the opposition from scoring.

At 21-years-old, he's still extremely young for a goalkeeper, but he is absolutely one of the brightest talents out there in European football at the moment.

Risser's ability to come out and smother opposition attackers makes him the ideal and inevitable Alisson heir.

It won't be easy for anyone to live up to the Brazilian's reputation. Alisson is a club legend for everything that he achieved at Anfield. However, if anyone can do it, it's Risser.

Keep an eye out on this potential move.
