Football clubs are battling to secure the services of high-profile free agents this summer with July 1 the official expiration of contracts for several stars across Europe.

There’s no shortage of big names available for nothing this summer, though next year’s football free agency pool might just be the biggest in recent years.

A number of clubs face major dilemmas on star names ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, with decisions to be made on whether to cash in now or run the risk of free transfer exits if contract negotiations fail.

We’ve compiled a list of 25 huge names who have entered the final season of their respective deals, a collection of talent that includes a trio of England internationals currently with Gareth Southgate’s squad at Euro 2024, Brazil’s all-time record goalscorer, and a certain eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Elsewhere there’s some of the finest left-backs in world football right now, a German general who could seek a new challenge after a decorated spell at Bayern Munich, and Lille’s highly-coveted centre-back gem.

Expect some of these to be on the move this summer with rival clubs hoping to capitalise with cut-price deals.
