Former Manchester United star Quinton Fortune believes Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson ‘is an option’ for the Reds this summer.

It comes amid reports that United are seeking a new striker to ease the goalscoring burden on Benjamin Sesko before next month’s deadline.

How did Sesko fare throughout his first year in England?

As things stand, the 23-year-old has yet to feature in pre-season due to the shin injury that ruled him out of the final three Premier League fixtures of 2025/2026.

Sesko did enjoy a stellar maiden campaign in the top flight, especially when considering he was not a nailed-on starter each week.

However, adding some more experienced depth to the frontline wouldn’t go amiss ahead of United’s return to the Champions League next term.

Jackson’s Chelsea record makes for impressive viewing

As for Jackson’s situation, he has returned to Chelsea following the conclusion of his loan spell with Bayern Munich and is still facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

The Senegal international, 25, is keen to play a prominent role wherever he plys his trade next, whether that be with the Blues or another suitor.

Since making the move to Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, Jackson has notched an impressive record of 30 goals and 12 assists in 80 appearances across all competitions.

In the Premier League alone, he has scored 24 goals and notched 10 assists in 65 matches, 59 of which were as a starter.

United have already done business with the London outfit once this transfer window when signing midfielder Andrey Santos in a £50 million deal. It remains to be seen if they would make an approach again for the £65m-valued No.9.

Fortune urges United to make surprise Jackson push

Fortune, however, thinks they should.

He said on the situation recently (as relayed by TeamTalk): “United need another striker, and if you are pushing for the Premier League and playing in the Champions League, you need a bigger squad.

“Nicolas Jackson is an option for Manchester United. He’s just an out-and-out striker.

“He doesn’t really care about anything else apart from getting into the box and getting on the end of whatever service he’s provided, and there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s still the hardest part of the game.”
