Well connected French journalist Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport has today claimed that Maxence Lacroix will play his final game for Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

A transfer is on the way – there are “no talks” to extend his contract in South London. Others have reported that Palace will listen to offers above €40m, although they could likely ask for a lot more.

His contract is until 2029, but clearly he’s informed them he won’t extend and they’re hoping to sell him while his value is high.

Everything points to Chelsea interest in 26 year old defender

Lacroix has been linked with Chelsea before, and we expect those rumours to come back with force now. He’s 26, Premier League experienced, plays in a position where we want a reliable starter, and is available for a reasonable price.

We may not end up with him, but we’re sure we’ll be in for him at some stage. It’s all lined up too perfectly. Our priority now must be selling several of our cluster of central defenders who have shown they’re not good enough to free up funds for a move like this.
