Despite the undeniable quality Robert Lewandowski still possesses, the Polish striker is no longer as sharp as in his prime. Barcelona may need to start thinking about a successor sooner rather than later.

Several names are reportedly on the club’s shortlist, but with many players eager to join, the decision is far from straightforward. On top of that, Barcelona face strict budget limits and must navigate La Liga’s financial regulations to afford a top striker this summer.

However, according to SPORT, one player who has made his intentions clear is Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. The 26-year-old Serbian sees Barcelona as his preferred destination and would be open to joining the club on a free transfer once his contract expires at the end of June.

According to the report, Vlahovic has instructed his entourage to explore a move to Barcelona first, although he would not rule out extending his stay at Juventus or considering offers from the Premier League if the Catalan club does not act.

Vlahovic has been available since the start of the season and was offered to Barcelona, but the club has not yet made a clear move. Sporting management is reportedly looking for a different type of striker, someone more mobile who can link up effectively with teammates and contribute to intense pressing.

In this sense, players like Julián Álvarez appear to better fit Barcelona’s profile, although signing him presents its own challenges.

The Serbian striker is recovering from an adductor injury that sidelined him since November. He aims to regain full fitness, prove his quality, and position himself for a high-profile move this summer.

So far, he has played 17 matches this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists. While a free transfer would make him a financially attractive option for Barcelona, he is currently not among the club’s top targets.

Barcelona will ultimately weigh financial constraints, squad needs, and tactical fit before deciding whether Vlahovic could become Lewandowski’s successor or if another forward better suited to the club’s playing style will take priority.
