Julien Stephan will be delighted with how the midfielder has performed this season

Queens Park Rangers have put a poor start to the season behind them to enjoy a decent run of form in recent times.

Julien Stephan’s side picked up just one point from their first three league games and were defeated 7-1 in this time by Coventry City.

However, three straight Championship triumphs saw QPR shoot up the table with players such as Richard Kone and Harvey Vale starring during that period.

New manager Stephan has managed to galvanise a group that was left by Marti Cifuentes and inspire them to perform at a higher level than they were capable of last season, which highlights the Frenchman’s man-management skills.

This has shone through during the early stages of the season, with a number of operators playing with more confidence than they did previously.

Nicolas Madsen has found a new lease of life at QPR under Julien Stephan

Nicolas Madsen signed for Queens Park Rangers in 2024 from Belgian side Westerlo but struggled to make much of an impact during his first season at Loftus Road.

The attacking midfielder scored 14 goals in 34 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign but only managed three in his maiden term with Rangers.

Madsen began the season as a regular starter for QPR, but after poor performances, his place in the team became less secure and he was eventually deployed from the bench.

The Rs forked out £2 million for his services, but after failing to impress, supporters started to mention a potential exit for the Dane during the summer window.

Stephan and Co. decided against making this decision and already look to have already been rewarded for their decision.

Madsen started six of QPR’s seven opening Championship matches, scoring once and assisting another goal. His impressive performances have given Stephan no option but to keep selecting the attacking midfielder, which is a great credit to how much his performances have turned around.

The 25-year-old has been instrumental in Queens Park Rangers’ turnaround of form, providing a creative force throughout and causing constant problems for opposition defences.

Stephan has to be credited somewhat due to this upturn in form from Madsen, with Rangers’ new boss finding a way to unlock the No.10’s performance in a beneficial way for QPR.

Nicolas Madsen must maintain his strong start to the season

Madsen has impressed during the opening stages of the 2025/26 campaign, with his performances much improved from what he produced last season.

The 25-year-old has established himself as an important part of QPR’s team, but he must not rest on his laurels now.

There will still be doubts surrounding the Dane’s ability to maintain this form over the season, given how much he dropped off throughout the middle stage of last term.

Despite that, Madsen can only be judged on what he has done thus far and his performances have shown that he has what it takes to keep performing at his current level.

Queens Park Rangers have finally begun to click into gear after a poor start to the season and their creative presences have played a great deal in that success.

With operators such as Kone, Kwame Poku and Madsen in good form, defences up and down the Championship will fear having to try and block out QPR’s attack this season.
