A 2nd member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set for an early return from international duty.
The player in question? Luka Modrić.
Midfielder Modrić is for his part currently locked in action, on the international stage.
After Croatia made the trip to Hampden Park for a Nations League meeting with Scotland, the former’s captain, as expected, was afforded his latest start in the middle of the park.
Amid what has proven a frustrating evening’s work to date for Croatia, though, Modrić found himself the recipient of a yellow card late in the first-half.
This came owing to his protests in the aftermath of Petar Sučić being sent for an early bath.
And, as a result, the 39-year-old will not be available to play his part in Croatia’s meeting with Portugal next Monday, through suspension.
As much means that Modrić will be afforded an early return to base in Spain with Real Madrid, joining midfield partner Eduardo Camavinga in being released early from international duty.
