This week, plenty of the discourse surrounding Leicester City has been their hunt for a new manager. Over the weekend, the Foxes parted ways with former manager Steve Cooper, after a disappointing start to the season.
The reasons for Steve Cooper's sacking were outlined as a fear from the board that Leicester would get relegated and that Cooper had struggled to gel with the club and its players, despite his best efforts.
Leicester City will be a completely new-look outfit under new management. So, those players who may have struggled under Steve Cooper will look forward to a new direction.
In the last campaign, defender Jannik Vestergaard was a mainstay in the Leicester City lineup. However, after Enzo Maresca left the club and Steve Cooper replaced him, Vestergaard found himself falling down the pecking order.
While it is not confirmed, the consensus is that Steve Cooper didn't like Vestergaard. There could have been a falling out between the two parties.
Unhelpful speculation to one side, Vestergaard will be excited to be given a fresh opportunity to prove himself to a new manager. Leicester fans know there is a gem in Vestergaard, when he applies himself.
Stephy Mavididi was not ostracised to the level that Vestergaard was under Steve Cooper. However, he certainly saw a decrease in his minutes. Mavididi only started seven Premier League games under Steve Cooper.
Under new management, Mavididi will be eager to kick on and establish himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. Having shown plenty of progress last season, Leicester fans should be excited to see a new development plan for the 26-year-old, entering his prime stages.
One of the more surprising exclusions from this season has been Ricardo Pereira. Despite being one of the better full-backs of the lower half in terms of talent, Pereira has hardly played.
Of course, injuries have not helped his case in recent weeks. However, Cooper never appeared to favour the full-back.
Hopefully, under new management, we will see Pereira stake more of a claim in the starting lineup again. He certainly has the quality to be a starter.
