With the January transfer window only around the corner, here are 3 players that might leave Southampton soon.

Southampton are not in a good position heading into the January transfer window. While the consensus is that they must spend, their budget is still up in the air.

Alongside this, there is also the matter of Southampton being bottom of the Premier League table. If this remains the case by the new year, then the Saints' pulling power would decrease.

Nevertheless, an option remains for Southampton to move players on. This could benefit Southampton with an increased budget or at least, a greater Premier League loan slot allocation.

3 players who could leave Southampton in January transfer window

1. Maxwel Cornet

Maxwel Cornet was brought in during the summer transfer window, on loan from West Ham United. The move seemed to benefit all parties at the time but the more time that has elapsed, the more obvious it seems that actually, no party has benefitted.

Maxwel Cornet has made two appearances in the Premier League so far this campaign. Totalling his two league appearances, the Ivorian winger has played a measly 72 minutes of league action.

Therefore, terminating his loan contract and sending him back to West Ham would benefit Southampton. They would then be able to sign another Premier League player on loan.

2. Tyler Dibling

Look, we all hope that it won't happen. Southampton are even adamant that they won't sell Tyler Dibling. However, it takes a lot to pull the wool over Southampton fans.

Dibling is going to be wanted by top Premier League clubs in the January transfer window. It is believed that little over £20m would be enough to convince Southampton - For the richest English sides, this is cheap as chips.

Let's cross our fingers that Dibling will stay at Southampton. However, we cannot completely rule out the likelihood that he will be sold.

3. Lesley Ugochukwu

For the same reason as Cornet, Lesley Ugochukwu is also likely to return to London in the new year.

We wouldn't blame him either. As it stands, he has been somewhat left out to dry at Southampton, only making two starts in the Premier League.

His loan spell has been more positive than Cornet's but we can hardly consider it a success overall. Only 211 minutes for a bottom of the table Southampton is not what the Rennes academy graduate had in mind.
