Southampton prepared to face Everton in the fifth home fixture, aiming to go one better from their previous two home matches against Ipswich Town and Leicester City. The Saints conceded last-minute goals in both games which kept them from securing a first Premier League win.
However, Russell Martin's side had a good momentum going into this fixture, having already defeated Sean Dyche's Everton two months ago in the Carabao Cup. The Saints learnt from their previous defensive mistakes throughout the season and registered a first clean-sheet to build the foundation for a massive win.
With five minutes remaining in the match, Adam Armstrong scored the match-winning 1-0 goal to inspire Southampton to secure the three points from this match. Hence, on that note, here are the three standout Southampton stars from an important first Premier League win.
Since his arrival at the St. Mary's Stadium, Ramsdale has shown why he was regarded as one of the best Premier League goalkeepers in the recent seasons. The 26-year-old consistently averaged making around four huge saves in each match, however, a few defensive mistakes denied him as well as the Saints from registering a first clean-sheet this season.
