The discussion about the future goalkeeper structure at FC Bayern is gathering pace. While Manuel Neuer’s decision on his future is still pending, the Munich club is apparently already positioning itself for possible alternatives. One name that is currently causing a stir: Ugurcan Cakir

Following his move to Galatasaray, the Turkish international goalkeeper has become the focus of top European clubs – and the German record champions are also said to have taken notice, as reported by the Turkish edition of Transfermarkt

His performances in the Champions League in particular are said to have left an impression on the Bayern bosses. With strong saves and remarkable consistency, Cakir is currently one of the most in-form goalkeepers in Europe

Transfer fee of 30 million euros on the table

According to Transfermarkt, Bayern have already contacted the keeper’s management and are even considering a possible offer of around 30 million euros. That would be an extraordinarily high sum for a 30-year-old goalkeeper – especially in view of his market value, which is estimated at 15 million euros

The reports from Turkey should be taken with a pinch of salt. FC Bayern are more likely to look for younger solutions. The squad already has a promising keeper in Jonas Urbig. Against this backdrop, a transfer of Cakir seems very unlikely

In addition, a transfer is likely to be difficult to realize. Galatasaray only paid a high transfer fee for Cakir in the summer of 2025 and sees him as a central pillar of the team. Accordingly, there is little willingness to give up the goalkeeper after just one season

Regardless of the Cakir situation, it is clear that the goalkeeper issue will play a key role at FC Bayern this summer. A lot depends on Neuer’s decision. If the 40-year-old stays for another year, the planning will automatically be postponed

However, if Neuer ends his career, Bayern may have to react and sign a new backup. Whether Cakir is a realistic solution for FC Bayern in the end, however, remains more than questionable.
