A rival offer for one Liverpool target has been rejected. The Reds can work with this.
This summer is another massive one for Liverpool. Bigger than it ever should have been, to be honest.
The massive spend in 2025 should have built a magnificent squad that improved on a title-winning group. Instead, Liverpool don't look particularly strong and their squad lacks players in key positions.
One of those is on the wing, with Liverpool opting not to replace Luis Diaz in the summer. That cost them a significant skill: direct running with the ball.
Hugo Ekitike is virtually the only forward who can do it consistently and even then it's in a very different way. Replacing Diaz's explosiveness on the wing is an absolute must.
But who's the target? There's one reported name out of Germany who looks like a solid investment for Liverpool - and now they've got more of a clue about his potential price tag.
Liverpool are one of a few clubs hoping to sign Said El Mala from Koln, according to certain quarters. El Mala is enjoying a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga, competing with another target, Yan Diomande, for the title of most exciting prospect.
But as we say, there are more than just the Reds hoping to sign El Mala. Brighton are one of those, with Bild now reporting that the Seagulls have bid for him.
They put €30m on the table but that has quickly been rejected. It'll therefore cost more than that to get the player.
And honestly, that's fair, El Mala would cost double that if he were at certain other Bundesliga clubs. Let alone if he played in the Premier League already.
