Sometimes, footballers can be described as having more clubs than golfers at times throughout their careers.

However that statement above is something that will likely have to be considered an understatement when thinking about Sebastian Abreu.

A former Uruguay international, the 44-year-old striker has finally decided to call it a day on his 26-year playing career, but only after representing 31 different clubs throughout his career.

The player announced his retirement on Thursday after he played his final match for Sud America against Liverpool Montevideo in the Uruguayan Premier Division – a match that they ultimately lost 5-0 against the current League leaders. That result perhaps was not that surprising for those who used a Quinnbet Coupon Code to further enhance their betting experience.

The appearance in the game took Abreu’s total match count to a huge 851 official appearances, which is a phenomenal feat.

The striker, who has been known as ‘El Loco’ – perhaps because of how long he has continued to play for – only joined Sud America in March after having had a spell at Brazilian side Athletic Club that lasted just a month and four appearances but was ended prematurely because of the ongoing global situation.

The 44-year-old became a record holder back in 2017 when he broke the Guinness World Record for the most professional football clubs played for by a single player after he joined Audax Italiano in the Chilean Primera Division.

Since then, Abreu has gone on to sign for a further five clubs and has completely eclipsed what previous record holder, Lutz Pfannenstiel, managed to achieve during his career. For those interested, the German goalkeeper managed to play for 27 different football clubs.
