According to L'Équipe, 35 people were arrested, including 26 held in custody, on Friday night in the Paris region around the Coupe de France final.
Those detained were mainly held for possession of fireworks, carrying prohibited weapons, assault and insulting offences. Four officers were slightly injured during the evening.
On Thursday night, on the eve of the final won by RC Lens against OGC Nice 3-1 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, clashes broke out in Paris’s 10th arrondissement. They involved around 100 Nice hooligans.
After a walk along the Canal Saint-Martin, a large fight on the Quai de Valmy left six injured, one seriously. Police intervened and arrested 65 people, who were placed in custody for participating in a group with the aim of committing violence.
Bladed and improvised weapons were found, along with balaclavas and hard-knuckle gloves. The final was classified high risk because of animosity between Nice and PSG supporters.
A significant security operation was mounted, with 2,200 police and gendarmes deployed. At the final whistle, no major incident was reported.
