Tottenham Hotspur will only entertain offers above £35 million, with their valuation sitting around the £35m-£40m mark. That price leaves Everton with a serious decision before making any approach.

There is another name under consideration. Nicolas Jackson has attracted interest from Everton as well, although Aston Villa are tracking the Chelsea forward too. Moyes now has two very different attacking profiles available while he assesses where his squad needs the biggest upgrade before the new campaign begins.

Richarlison rebuilt his momentum during the 2025/26 season after putting injury setbacks behind him. The Brazil international scored 11 Premier League goals and supplied four assists in 32 league appearances. Across all competitions, he finished with 12 goals and five assists in 42 matches, including a valuable goal during Tottenham’s UEFA Champions League run.

Fans would welcome Richarlison back without hesitation. His commitment, aggression and connection with the fanbase never disappeared after leaving Merseyside. Add his 48 senior Brazil caps, and there is little doubt about his pedigree. Roberto De Zerbi has praised his work rate since taking charge at Spurs, even though reports suggest the forward has admitted he sometimes wants a fresh challenge during the final year of his contract.

That emotional pull, though, shouldn’t dictate Everton’s transfer strategy. £35 million is a substantial outlay for a player approaching his 30th birthday, especially when wages are likely to stretch the overall package much higher.

Everton should spend that budget elsewhere

Richarlison has always looked more dangerous attacking from the left or drifting around a central striker than leading the line on his own. Moyes usually relies on a powerful focal point who occupies defenders and brings others into play. That tactical mismatch cannot be ignored.

There is another concern. Richarlison’s intense style has brought recurring muscle injuries across recent seasons, making any major investment carry obvious risk. Tottenham reportedly want to raise funds for a move for Victor Osimhen, so their valuation is understandable. Everton, though, would gain greater value by using that money on a younger creative player with stronger resale potential instead of committing a large share of the budget to a familiar name whose best years may already be behind him.
