While things at Chelsea have been a disaster this season, their sister club Strasbourg have had a good season.

They went far in the Coup de France, are still in the Conference League and are competing in the Ligue 1 table once again. Gary O’Neil has done a good job since taking over from Liam Rosenior in January.

Our French siblings also have a far better hit rate than we do in terms of transfers, and according to a rumour in L’Equipe, they’ve got another target lined up for this summer.

Mateo Del Blanco a new Strasbourg talent

Strasbourg want an alternative to Ben Chilwell at left back, and they’ve found a South American talent to fill that role.

Mateo Del Blanco, who plays for Union Santa Fe in Argentine, is now a top target. He’s got a €3m release clause, and we can only assume that’s a good deal given Strasbourg’s record in signing players. The 22 year old has a Spanish passport too, making his move to Europe that much easier.

With more than 100 senior appearances, Del Blanco has plenty of experience and is at a perfect moment in his career to step up and take a European move.

In other news…

Andoni Iraola is the top option to get the Chelsea job – but fans are universally in favour of him being the chosen one.

Premier League legend Gareth Barry pointed out that Liam Rosenior never had a chance to get rid of the players who were undermining him.
