Liverpool and Manchester City will headline Sunday’s fixture roster in a blockbuster fixture at the Etihad Stadium, which could have telling consequences for both sides.

The Reds dropped two points in the exhilarating Premier League title race last time out when they were held to a 2-2 draw against a resilient Aston Villa side at Anfield.

It was the second time Arne Slot’s side have dropped points in the space of a week.

They previously played out a 2-2 draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton before edging Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 at Anfield.

The draw against Villa extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points, although title contenders Arsenal now have a game in hand.

Slot’s side can’t afford to drop any more points in their quest to win the title, but they’d need to be wary of a Man City side eager for retribution after their recent continental humiliation.

How Liverpool could line up vs Man City

Liverpool will visit the Etihad with three first-team players ruled out, including Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, and Conor Bradley.

He also claimed he’d be “completely surprised” if Bradley features after tweaking his hamstring against Villa, while Joe Gomez is out after undergoing a successful surgery to correct a thigh issue.

Aside from the few hiccups, Slot’s side are in good shape for the upcoming Clash of the Titans, so he could make just one change from the XI that started against Villa.

Slot dropped Luis Diaz to the bench and deployed Curtis Jones on the left flank.

However, he could reverse that switch against City, considering he’d need all the firepower he can get to complete the double over the champions.

Diaz’s cameo against Villa was rather underwhelming, but he has notched 13 goals in 36 games across all competitions. He has the quality to be a game-changer for the Reds.
