Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to win three Premier League games on the bounce for the first time this season when they take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road Stadium.
Ange Postecoglou’s side head into Saturday evening’s contest as overwhelming favourites, but their well-documented inconsistency could be their Achilles Heel.
Ipswich clinched a shocking 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so Spurs will be eager to set the record straight when they travel to Suffolk.
Tottenham put in a strong performance against Manchester United last time out, as James Maddison’s 13th-minute strike handed them a 1-0 win.
However, they haven’t won three consecutive Premier League games since December 2023.
You’d do well to find a team that can match Spurs’ woeful injury crisis this season, but things are finally starting to look up for Postecoglou’s side.
The Aussie manager has options to choose from for Saturday’s visit to the Tractor Boys, which is a luxury he has rarely enjoyed this season.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario bagged a clean sheet on his return from injury to help Spurs earn a scrappy 1-0 win over United, and they’d be hoping he maintains his fitness for the rest of the season.
First-choice left-back Destiny Udogie is among a number of key players who have returned from injury, but he should start on the bench in favour of Djed Spence, who has been superb at left-back.
Brennan Johnson is also fit and available, but Postecoglou may not risk starting the 23-year-old forward. He needs to be integrated gradually to avoid a relapse.
Johnson has been in fine form for Spurs this season, notching 12 goals and three assists in 33 games across all competitions.
Postecoglou is unlikely to tweak the XI that started against United, but he’d have reliable options on the bench.
