This is turning into a truly bonkers end to the transfer window for Chelsea.

As if it wasn’t enough having multiple first team attackers leaving and arriving in the final week, things took yet another twist when Liam Delap pulled his hamstring earlier today.

This seems to have changed everything – Chelsea are reportedly going to cancel Nicolas Jackson’s loan to Bayern Munich, with the striker actually in Germany now. Not only that, it seems to have taken the Blues’ interest in Fermin Lopez to a new level.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s Tweet of just a few minutes ago, the Blues are getting serious and have made an “official written proposal” for the attacker, “right after the [Fulham] game.”

Chelsea step up Fermin chase with official offer

Chelsea’s bid for Fermin Lopez confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

With Tyrique George apparently on the way out and Alejandro Garnacho on the way in, the arrival of Lopez would conclude an almost total overhaul of Chelsea’s attack.

Garnacho and Lopez would join Jamie Gittens, Delap, Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian as the Blues new options in the front line, replacing Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, Jadon Sancho and potentially Nicolas Jackson, whose future is still in flux.

Only Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer would remain from last season.

Chelsea step up winger chase after Simons joins Spurs

Fermin may have been the plan all along, regardless of Delap’s injury. It seemed to us that Lopez was the backup for Xavi Simons, who has joined Tottenham after being chased by Chelsea all summer.

Barcelona look set to do all they can to hold on to their academy gem. His feelings on a move aren’t clear yet. We expect this initial offer to be rejected – there’s no way we’re getting the Spanish talent for less than €50m at a minimum.
