With a change of ownership potentially on the horizon, a big January transfer window could change everything for West Bromwich Albion.

The Midlands club are owned by Gouchan Lai, but the club will soon be sold and a new owner is expected to take over in January.

A new owner could sanction a potential January of spending to help push The Baggies into the Premier League again, but manager Carlos Corberan will likely have to explore some cut-price transfers to help keep the club within the spending rules, after labeling the club's financial situation "a challenge".

The club have been occupying the play-off places recently, but will need some reinforcements if they are to catch the teams at the top of the table.

We explore FIVE of those aforementioned cut-price deals here:

Aaron Connolly

With West Brom boss Carlos Corberan in need of a new striker in January, a move for Aaron Connolly could be a cut-price option for the Midlands club.

The Republic of Ireland striker came through the academy at Brighton and was one of the most impressive youngsters at the club. However, he failed to kick on at The Amex, and moved to Hull this season after a loan spell.

Given that he signed a one-year deal with the club in the summer, he'd be more than affordable for West Brom. Although, talk of an imminent new deal could soon quash that.

The signing of former Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison could be a cheap way to back up an already impressive defence, given the centre half’s current contract status.

The 32-year-old currently plies his trade with Rotherham United but could be looking to move away from the club when his contract ends in the summer.

The Millers, therefore, would likely be open to allowing him to leave for a lower transfer fee, which could open the door for West Brom to add some experience to their backline, as they challenge to stay in the top six this season.

With injuries in the wide areas, Leicester City’s Marc Albrighton could be a fantastic addition.

The winger was a key part of the Leicester side that won the Premier League in 2016, and stayed with the Foxes as they tumbled down to the EFL last season after a loan with the Baggies.

His contract is up next season, and at 34, there is doubt whether he will be offered an extension. This makes a transfer to West Brom in January perfect, as the Baggies can pick up a good deal on a player with Premier League and Champions League experience.

Scott Hogan

Scott Hogan plays for Birmingham City, after joining the club from Aston Villa in 2020 and immediately locking down a starting birth up front. His contract is on the cusp of expiring, though, and he's out of favour.

If West Brom need a striker to take the pressure off a returning Daryl Dike, they should look at Hogan.

Adama Traore

West Brom could look towards Hull City’s Adama Traore for a cut-priced solution to their problems.

His performances have helped Hull climb into top-six contention, but with his deal up in the summer, Traore could be looking for a move away from Hull as early as January if the club are, for some reason, against triggering the 12-month extension they have in their favour.

As an attacking outlet with experience of the Championship, Traore could be the perfect, cheap stop-gap signing for the Baggies, as they head into the second-half of the season.
