Premier League opinion: Best signings of the summer window so far

The summer transfer window is heating up with about three weeks left. There’s still a lot of transfer activity underway for many clubs.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are yet to make a marquee signing but there are other clubs in the Premier League that have started off on the right foot already.

Aston Villa have made more signings than some teams combined. Tottenham Hotspur have finally spent on transfers after not doing so for two windows straight. Meanwhile, Chelsea are facing a ban that won’t allow them to spend any money on transfers for two windows.

Having said that, let’s have a look at the best signings so far.

Sebastien Haller to West Ham United

This £45m transfer might have come as a surprise to some but West Ham have shown recently that they can attract some top players. Haller had two outstanding seasons at Eintracht Frankfurt and was part of the Bundesliga’s best attack from last season.

His link-up with Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic was the stuff of dreams. It goes without saying that the burly man is a most welcome addition.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United (£45m)

It is arguable that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the best defensive full-back in Europe and not just the Premier League. Well known for his spidery long legs, the Englishman won every one-versus-one battle that came his way last season.

Moving from Crystal Palace to a big club was only a matter of when and not if. There’s a real strong possibility that the right wing will be protected at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

Tanguy Ndombele to Tottenham Hotspur (£53.8m)

Spurs fans have been patient but all of that paid off heavily this summer with the purchase of French international Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Press resistance is a big part of the modern game and Ndombele is arguably the best in Europe, along with Dutchman Frenkie De Jong and PSG’s Marco Veratti. This signing is a massive statement of intent from Spurs.

Rodri to Manchester City (£62.8m)

It is no secret that Pep Guardiola pays a massive amount of attention to his holding midfielders, having been one himself.

Fernandinho has been the best holding midfielder in the Premier League for the last few seasons but isn’t the archetypal Guardiola holding midfielder, as he’s far more mobile and tenacious. Quite capable of being the heir to Sergio Busquets, Rodri is almost the perfect player for Guardiola.

Youri Tielemans to Leicester City (£40m)

The Belgian international has already shown the King Power a sign of things to come after having an instant impact during his short loan spell since January.

Leicester City are building something very exciting under Brendan Rodgers and the capture of Tielemans suggests that they haven’t lost their hunger for success since the miraculous league title win in the 2015/16 season.
