A look at five players who must surely be keen on a move away from Queens Park Rangers in the summer transfer window.

In his second season in charge, Queens Park Rangers boss Julien Stephan is continuing to put his own mark on his QPR squad with the ambition surely set to be to challenge for the top eight and the expanded play-off places in the Championship next season.

After a mixed campaign at Loftus Road, in which QPR had some impressive performances and flirted with a late dash towards the top six before fizzling out into a mid-table finish, there will be a belief that Stephan and The R’s can kick on this season.

So far this summer, QPR have reinforced their goalkeeping stocks with the loan addition of Pierce Charles after he moved from Sheffield Wednesday to Manchester City, as well as the permanent signing of Calum Ward from Motherwell.

QPR have also brought in a new full-back pairing on free transfers, with Dutchman Boy Kemper joining from NAC Breda and the injury-prone Tariq Lamptey moving from Fiorentina.

Paul Nardi, Steve Cook and Isaac Hayden headlined QPR’s list of released players, while Nardi’s fellow ‘keeper Joe Walsh has moved to Wigan Athletic on loan.

As well as that, The Hoops have completed four sales with another goalkeeper, Murphy Cooper, moving to Plymouth Argyle, while midfielder Sam Field has completed a permanent switch to Norwich City, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Carrow Road.

Young attacker Cian Dillon has moved to Dundalk for an undisclosed fee with Slovenia international striker Zan Celar joining Swiss giants Basel.

There is expected to be a fair bit more business done by QPR in the remaining month or so of the summer transfer window, both in terms of comings and goings, and FLW has identified six players who must surely be keen on an exit from West London this summer.

Ronnie Edwards

This would be one of the more controversial departures for QPR supporters to swallow and the idea that he may push for a move away from Loftus Road is built on the premise that Edwards may be keen to jump at the interest reportedly being showed by Burnley.

Having been relegated from the Premier League last season, Burnley will again be expected to challenge for the title this season and so Edwards being involved with another team pushing for promotion and with a better chance of it than QPR would be tempting.

That said, Edwards may be cautious after being burnt by his jump from Peterborough United to Southampton in the summer of 2024, finally rediscovering his best form and consistency since joining Rangers.

Kealey Adamson

Jimmy Dunne, QPR captain, played the vast majority of last season at right-back but the Republic of Ireland international is expected to move back to the centre of defence – but that does not mean young Australian Kealey Adamson is going to come into the side.

The signing of Tariq Lamptey will aid Dunne moving back to the heart of the defence but will also act as another blockage for Adamson finding regular football at Loftus Road.

Since joining from Australian A League outfit Macarthur in the summer of 2025, Adamson has made just three appearances in the Championship and that isn’t expected to rapidly increase any time soon and so a move away will surely be something he is keen on.

Ziyad Larkeche

Another player who has struggled for any gametime at QPR is another full-back, Ziyad Larkeche, who moved to The Hoops from Fulham in the summer of 2023.

Since then, Larkeche has barely featured for The R’s due to a lack of form and injury issues, spending the 2024-25 season out on loan in the Scottish Premiership at Dundee.

Larkeche sustained an ACL injury last summer, leading him to miss the entirety of the campaign and he will surely be keen to regain fitness and form with regular minutes – and that will only be guaranteed elsewhere.

Justin Obikwu

Justin Obikwu joined QPR from Coventry City on a permanent basis in the winter transfer window after spending the first half of the season on loan at eventual League One winners Lincoln City.

The Trinidad and Tobago international has showcased some real quality in both League One and League Two, without ever being overly prolific, and he finds himself in a stacked attack behind the likes of Richard Kone and Rumarn Burrell.

It could well be that QPR fancy a more reliable back-up to that pair and bring in another forward this summer, further limiting Obikwu’s potential minutes, having joined with a shin injury and missing the rest of the season. Obikwu may well hit the ground running at QPR but it is a gamble for the club when a loan may benefit both them and him.

Alfie Lloyd

As Obikwu arrived, another QPR forward departed with youngster Alfie Lloyd spending the second half of last season on loan at Lincoln, scoring one goal in 18 appearances for The Imps as they romped to the third-tier title.

Lloyd had previously struggled to make an impact at Leyton Orient in the first half of the season and the highly-rated youngster will now be keen to make his way with a steadier time of it in professional football.

As a result, the 23-year-old must be keen on finding a way out of QPR, either on loan or on a permanent basis, to get himself regular minutes in League One or League Two this season.
