5️⃣ spicy fixtures you must watch this weekend 🌶

Belgium vs France

We’re extending our must-watch games over a long weekend and Monday night brings a clash between Belgium and France.

Second and third in a tight Nations League group as things stand, each need a positive result to remain within reach of leaders Italy. Belgium will be hoping to exact revenge in this long-lasting rivalry, having lost the last four competitive meetings between the teams.

A spirited comeback from 2-0 down to draw with Italy should boost confidence for Domenico Tedesco’s inexperienced squad, who are without Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Just three members of the squad have won more than 30 caps.

England u-21 vs Ukraine u-21

England look likely to be consigned to the play-offs in their bid to reach the u-21 European Championship with the Young Lions five points adrift of group leaders Ukraine with two games to go.

England are the reigning European champions but have been second best to a talented Ukraine team in qualification. Ukraine have a perfect record of eight wins from eight games, which includes a 3-2 win over England in October 2023.

The top two meet on Friday night at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium, as England – under the management of Ben Futcher with Lee Carsley in interim charge of the seniors – look to keep alive fading hopes of automatic qualification.

Arsenal vs Chelsea (WSL)

Chelsea travel to face London rivals Arsenal looking to maintain their 100% start to the Women’s Super League season. It’s a huge weekend of WSL action with last season’s top four all in direct opposition, with Liverpool also hosting Manchester City.

For Arsenal, the Gunners will be keen to right the wrongs of a heavy 5-2 defeat at Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek. Few games are a bigger source of motivation than a clash with last season’s champions at the Emirates.

Spain vs Denmark

Spain host Denmark as first meets second in Group 4 of the UEFA Nations League A.

Denmark have a perfect record from two games, beating Switzerland and Serbia 2-0 in Copenhagen. A trip to face the European champions is an altogether tougher test, even if La Roja have been weakened by ACL injuries to Rodri and Dani Carvajal.

Luis de la Fuente’s side are unbeaten in 12 matches, including 10 wins and two draws, and have not lost since suffering a 1-0 friendly defeat to Colombia in March.

Germany vs Netherlands

One of international football’s great rivalries resumes on Monday night as Germany take on the Netherlands at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The first meeting between the teams ended in a 2-2 draw last month, in an end-to-end contest that saw the Dutch lead through Tijjani Reijnders inside 100 seconds.

Germany turned the game around before half-time via goals from Deniz Undav and Joshua Kimmich, but Denzel Dumfries rescued the Oranje a result after the break.

It’s rarely dull when these two meet.
