The five football fixtures you must watch this weekend, with English football preparing for some huge match-ups.
Serie A looks impossible to call this season and this weekend brings a clash between two traditional giants. Inter Milan have recovered from the setback of losing to Napoli to rediscover their form, beating Fiorentina and Verona in successive games to remain in touch of the top. In Europe, the Nerazzurri are flawless with four wins from four in the Champions League.
This weekend brings Lazio to town, with the capital club having recovered from a bad start to climb the table. Maurizio Sarri’s side have not conceded a goal in their last four.
Arsenal face Chelsea in the Women’s Super League (WSL) on Saturday, as the European champions take on their English equivalents. The Gunners have failed to find their best form since Champions League success last season, languishing fifth in the WSL table.
It’s a game Arsenal cannot afford to lose, against a Chelsea team chasing a sixth straight title. A win for the Blues would extend their advantage over their neighbours to eight points.
When the fixture list came out, few would have anticipated this being a top-four encounter as we entered November. Newly-promoted Sunderland have exceeded all expectations to climb into the Champions League places, ahead of the visit of the league leaders.
Granit Xhaka will lead Sunderland against his former team, as the Black Cats look to beat an Arsenal side who have gone an incredible eight games without conceding.
Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime, with both teams striving for consistency in their performances. Though each are nestled in the European chase, neither has convinced during the current campaign.
Spurs were booed off after a dismal defeat to Chelsea last time out and Thomas Frank will demand a response from his side. Manchester United, meanwhile, are aiming for a fifth Premier League game without defeat.
One of the most eagerly anticipated dates on the Premier League calendar is here on Sunday,
Manchester City face Liverpool in a modern rivalry that has seen the sides share each of the last eight Premier League titles. Both are already playing catch up to Arsenal, and defeat for either could be devastating to their title chances. This is not one to be missed.
