Liverpool will be wanting to compete for the Premier League title this season.
They were expected to easily retain it during the 2025-26 campaign but, thanks to a whole host of different things, that wasn't what happened.
This led to fans demanding change and, although we're only a few weeks into summer, change has certainly been afoot.
Several players have been linked with Liverpool with plenty also rumoured to be on their way out.
But, for one of Andoni Iraola's men, his time at L4 could be about to finish within the next couple of weeks.
Cody Gakpo was expected to thrive when Luis Diaz was moved on.
However, the opposite actually happened as he was the sole left-winger of the team and was expected to be one of their biggest creators.
And, while he managed to assist his teammates six times, it was nothing compared to the 23 that the Colombian got with Bayern Munich.
This lack of form has resulted in fans turning on the Dutchman and wanting him out of their club despite not having all that many options to replace him.
A fresh update from Nico Schira has now shared an update on Gakpo's situation and has given an insight into where his future may lie.
"Roberto De Zerbi wants to sign Cody Gakpo," he wrote via his personal X account.
"Tottenham are working and ready to submit an important bid to Liverpool.
"While for the dutch winger offered a contract until 2031 and a key-role in RDZ’s Project. Opened talks."
Even though Gakpo hasn't played all that well this season, he's still an exceptional player.
The tactics that Arne Slot used didn't favour his playing style whatsoever which probably didn't help matters much either.
But, since fans have already been driven against him due to his poor outings, now could be the best time for Liverpool to cash in.
The Dutchman has only just signed a new contract so they'd get a hefty fee for him if they were to move him on.
He's also only 27 years old so he still has plenty of time left at the peak of his powers.
Of course, the fact that he's scored 50 goal during his four seasons with Liverpool can't be overlooked but, with players such as Bradley Barcola, Yan Diomande and Bazoumana Toure being linked with an Anfield switch, selling Gakpo to fund moves for any of them makes total sense.
That is, especially since we don't exactly know how Iraola will line his team up during the first game of the season.
