It’s been clear since before the summer that signing a right footed left winger is a priority for Chelsea, and that doesn’t seem to have changed. The departure of Jadon Sancho has only increased the need for a decisive option in that area.

Recent weeks have seen Jamie Gittens mentioned repeatedly, and there’s no doubting that he looks like favourite right now. Borussia Dortmund lowered their asking price from an insane €100m to a much more reasonable level, and by all accounts we’re in talks with the German club over bringing him in.
But he’s not the only one on the list. Back in January, we heard a lot about interest in Man U winger Alejandro Garnacho, and while he doesn’t seem to be top of the list anymore, he’s certainly still on it.
CaughtOffside claim that he’s available for €55m, and say that AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are all keen on the Argentine, with some of them hoping to secure a loan with a buy option.
Still just 20 years old, Garnacho’s talent is undeniable, and there must be a real temptation to bring him in and try to get the best out of him in a way that United couldn’t.
We’re not sure how well his style of personality fits into Enzo Maresca’s team – although as we know, that’s only one concern. If the sporting directors think there’s a deal to have, they’ll make it happen regardless of how good the fit is.
We still expect Gittens to be priority number one – but Garnacho isn’t far behind, especially if his price starts to drop further.
