6 Middlesbrough players surely keen to escape the club by September 1st | OneFootball

There are a host of players who will find first-team opportunities hard to come by next season.

Middlesbrough have certainly caught the eye with their transfer business this summer as they strive to return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence.

This is Kim Hellberg's first pre-season with the club, and he will be keen to have players on board with his project, meaning more arrivals and departures will be in the offing.

Hayden Hackney has led the list of exits from the Riverside Stadium while Will Lankshear, Kyle Joseph, Jeremy Sarmiento and Myles Peart-Harris head the incomings.

There is still plenty of time for more players to leave the Teesside outfit, but who will surely be hoping to leave before the transfer deadline on 1 September?

Seny Dieng did not make a single senior appearance for Boro last season but did make three for Sheffield Wednesday during an emergency loan spell.

The goalkeeper only has a year remaining on his current deal at the Riverside and, given his lack of impact last term, he will surely be on the lookout for his next challenge.

George Edmundson

Another man with just a year remaining on his deal is George Edmundson, who has also found first-team opportunities incredibly sparse last season.

The centre-back made just seven league appearances last term and made a critical error against Bristol City in March that led to the Robins' equaliser despite only being on the pitch for one minute.

Alex Bangura

Alex Bangura's career has never truly taken off at Boro, and with a year remaining on his contract, he must be eyeing an exit this summer.

The left-back did start a handful of games around Christmas last season but has only made 27 Championship appearances since signing from SC Cambuur Leeuwarden in the summer of 2023.

Another left-back who is likely to depart Middlesbrough is Finley Munroe, who spent the first half of last season on loan with League Two outfit Swindon Town.

It was recently reported by The Northern Echo's Dominic Shaw that the 21-year-old is set to join League One side Blackpool on loan, although that has yet to be confirmed.

Micah Hamilton

Micah Hamilton has struggled to make an impact on Teesside following his move from Manchester City and is unlikely to be called upon by Hellberg next season.

The winger made 13 league appearances in his debut campaign for Middlesbrough but only appeared four times last term, managing just 50 minutes on the pitch.

Kaly Sene

Kaly Sene only arrived at Boro last summer, but he endured a torrid first season at the Riverside, scoring just twice in 28 Championship appearances.

The 25-year-old has more intense competition for a place in Hellberg's side now that Lankshear and Kyle Joseph have arrived, meaning he may want to leave to find regular first-team football.
