A star from the Bundesliga is apparently available for around 60 million euros and FC Bayern is also said to be interested in signing him.

A Bundesliga player is causing covetousness throughout Europe – and FC Bayern are also said to be in the running. According to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Borussia Dortmund also have their eye on Angelo Stiller from VfB Stuttgart.

Konur also reports that it is not just the top German clubs that have taken notice, with Real Madrid and Manchester United also interested in the 24-year-old, as well as Liverpool FC.

However, a transfer would not be cheap. According to Konur, Stuttgart are demanding a transfer fee of around 60 million euros – a sum that is significantly higher than the buy-out clause originally anchored in the contract. This is just under 40 million euros, but according to Sky, VfB should have the option of removing the clause from the contract for around two million euros. In this case, Stiller would only be available for a freely negotiable transfer fee, which would likely drive the price up massively.

Stiller was trained in Bayern’s youth academy and moved from his next club Hoffenheim to Stuttgart for €5.5 million in 2023, where he developed into a key player under coach Sebastian Hoeneß.

Stiller has also been the subject of sporting debate recently: his non-nomination for the German national team had caused discussion. He himself hardly wanted to comment on this and only said on RTL: „We’ve discussed it internally. That will have to do.“ He only responded to further questions with: „No comment.“

Would a Stiller transfer make sense for FC Bayern?

Hoeneß, on the other hand, had clear words for the value of his midfielder. Stiller’s importance „couldn’t be greater“ and he is a „very central player“ for the reigning DFB Cup winners. The VfB coach said of national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s decision: „I wouldn’t have expected it.“ At the same time, however, he emphasised: „Nevertheless, that’s the way it is now, and we will of course stick to our guns and not question anything.“

Stiller had been repeatedly mentioned as a transfer candidate at FC Bayern following his departure and rise to international status. A place in central midfield could indeed become available there in the summer if, as expected, Leon Goretzka does not receive a new contract at FCB.

However, the Belgian youngster Nathan De Cat from RSC Anderlecht is currently being mentioned as a possible successor. Apart from that, Munich only signed Tom Bischof last summer, who also prefers to play in the center of midfield and is to be further developed. Aleksander Pavlovic is also the first choice alongside Joshua Kimmich, who is indispensable in Bayern’s midfield.

So whether Bayern will really try to sign the „prodigal son“ Stiller before the coming season seems rather unlikely at the moment.
