An insight into the details of La Liga giants Barcelona’s planned offer for Sporting CP star Viktor Gyökeres has on Monday evening been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and points towards the Barca brass as planning a somewhat unusual proposal, in a bid to beat out the competition for the frontman’s signature.

Swedish international Gyökeres has of course positioned himself front and centre in the transfer headlines across all of Europe over the course of the season to date.

This comes amid nothing short of a remarkable opening to the campaign on the part of the former Coventry City man.

All told, in 19 appearances across all competitions for Sporting, Gyökeres has directly contributed to 28 goals.

Such exploits have sparked widespread interest in his signature, with a whole host of the continent’s leading clubs understood to be giving consideration to big-money bids for the Swede.

And chief amongst them, as alluded to above, are La Liga table-toppers Barcelona.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Barcelona see in him the ideal successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose stay at the club could be extended until 2026, depending on his performance.’

The Blaugrana, in turn, have hatched something of a plan, to entice Sporting into sending their star goalscorer to the Camp Nou, rather than any other potential destination.

The move in question would be built around an offer for his services being tabled next summer.

The bid in question would be worth a total of €70m million.

More significantly, though, it would also allow Gyökeres to remain in Lisbon on loan for the season, before ultimately landing in Catalunya’s capital in the summer of 2026, upon Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
