Jack Harrison joined Fiorentina in January. He hoped to restart a career that had stalled in West Yorkshire. Reports from Corriere dello Sport say the Italians first saw him as a key boost for their attack. They needed help during a tough Serie A run. However, his time in Florence has not lived up to the hype.
The winger showed small sparks of quality at first. Since then, he has struggled to stay consistent. He rarely impacts matches now. Because of this, the bosses at the Stadio Artemio Franchi don’t want to pay the €7m buy option in his loan deal. The club trust other loanees like Manor Solomon.
They plan to sign Solomon permanently from Tottenham. Meanwhile, Harrison stays on the sidelines. Former Spurs director Fabio Paratici helped bring him to Italy. Reports say Paratici feels let down by the 29-year-old. His high wages do not match his work on the pitch. A return to Leeds United this summer now looks certain. (Via Sport Witness)

This situation creates a tough problem for Leeds United as they plan for the 2026/27 season. Harrison is 29, and he is currently uncertain about his future. His experience should help the team, but his poor form in Italy shows he is fading. We know Harrison’s main strengths. His hard work and crossing made him a fan favourite at Elland Road before.
On the other hand, his technical mistakes and lack of top speed hurt him. He struggles against the best modern full-backs. Fiorentina want to drop Harrison for Manor Solomon. Now, Leeds United must decide if they can keep a high-earner who has spent years away on loan.
Leeds United need to refresh the squad and balance the books. I believe Leeds should sell him to a new club instead of trying to bring him back. Even if the fee is lower than they wanted, selling him is better. It lets the scouts find younger, faster players for the current high-tempo system. Keeping a player whose best days in a white shirt are over could accidentally stop the progress of academy stars with more potential.
