The upcoming game for FC Barcelona is undoubtedly a major clash. La Blaugrana are now set to face off against SL Benfica in the UEFA Champions League yet again this season. This time around, however, Barcelona have a lot more to lose than just a league phase position.

While their last meeting during the league phase was undoubtedly quite a memorable one, this one will feature the stadiums of both teams. In the previous outing, only Benfica had the privilege of getting to welcome Barcelona to their home.

However, the first leg of this upcoming Champions League clash will still be taking place in Portugal. So, considering what happened last time, Barcelona will need to be at their very best in order to get a positive result out of this big European encounter.

Unfortunately for the Catalan giants, there may be some bad news to tend to first. According to SPORT, 20-year-old Spanish midfielder Gavi is now a potential doubt for the upcoming Champions League clash in Portugal.

The reason behind this doubt is generated by the fact that the player had to miss the most recent team training session due to a fever. Previously, Hansi Flick explained why the player ended up having the same issue in the last game against Real Sociedad, and it seems that the problem is persisting.

Now, as a result of missing this recent training session, there is no telling how things develop from here for Gavi. With Barcelona set to travel away to Portugal for the game, it remains to be seen in what condition the €80 million-rated Spanish midfielder is by the team that the side actually makes the trip.

There is no denying the quality and talent that Gavi possesses, and not having him available would surely be a sour blow. However, Barcelona will likely hope for the best and wait to see if the young midfielder is able to recover enough in time to be able to participate.
