The latest comments laid out by Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone have turned heads on Saturday afternoon.

This comes after the Argentine provided an insight into his plans for summer signing Conor Gallagher.

After months of drawn out negotiations, Atlético, of course, this week at long last made official the capture of midfielder Gallagher from Premier League giants Chelsea.

The England international made his way to Spain’s capital as part of a wider agreement which also saw João Félix head in the opposite direction.

So, what is the plan for Gallagher at the Wanda Metropolitano?

The 24-year-old, across his time in the Premier League, generally lined out in either an all-action orthodox role in the middle of the park, or a more advanced attacking midfielder position.

Speaking in his latest press conference on Saturday, the question of where exactly he intends to utilise Gallagher on the pitch was in turn put to Diego Simeone.

And, safe to say, the Atlético headmaster’s ensuing response proved an interesting one.

This comes with Simeone having pointed towards his latest signing as being capable of lining out in as many as four different positions, including out wide, or even as a no.10:

“Conor Gallagher? He can play as a double pivot, on the wing, attacking midfielder… and also as a 2nd striker!”
