Manchester City appear poised to announce several signings this week. It is expected that deals that will see Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush and Vitor Reis arrive at the Etihad will be confirmed sometime this week. In regards to Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, it appears that all of the formalities are complete ahead of his move from Palmeiras to Manchester City.
Fabrizio Romano has reported via X that Vitor Reis has signed his contract ahead of his move to the Premier League champions. Furthermore, Romano reports that the Brazilian defender has also completed his medical. Lastly, Romano reports that an official announcement of the transfer is expected later this week.
Vitor Reis will be a quality addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Although he is only 19 years of age he has shown his quality during his time with Palmeiras. Reis has quickly risen to prominence playing in their first team. He has also impressed during his performances for Brazil’s under-17 squad. Playing as a centre-back, Reis appears to have all of the attributes necessary to become an elite centre-back. He is good in possession and his defensive abilities are something that stand out when he plays. The hope is that Reis can step in and contribute at the back for Pep Guardiola’s squad when his move to the world champions is confirmed.
The other positive of Manchester City signing Reis is his age. Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and John Stones are all getting on in years. They have all battled injury concerns at times this season. The hope is that Reis can step in and provide cover for those four players. Due to his age and talent the hope is that he can become on of the mainstays in City’s defence for years to come.
It now appears to be a matter of time before Vitor Reis’ move to Manchester City is confirmed. His arrival will be a boost to Pep Guardiola’s side for what lies ahead this season and beyond.
