Barcelona are entering a crucial phase in their squad planning, with one position clearly marked for reinforcement – the striker role.

The club’s hierarchy, led by Joan Laporta and Deco, understands that adding a reliable No 9 is of extreme importance, as the possibility of Robert Lewandowski’s summer departure is increasing with every passing day.

However, as has often been the case in recent years, ambition must be balanced with financial reality.

This means Barcelona are exploring both elite-level stars and more accessible alternatives, keeping their options open depending on how the market evolves.

Victor Osimhen

At the very top sits Victor Osimhen, a striker who ticks almost every tactical box.

His presence inside the penalty area, ability to finish under pressure, and physical dominance make him a near-perfect fit for Barça’s attacking structure.

Yet, there is a major hurdle.

Osimhen’s salary demands could complicate any potential move, especially given Barcelona’s ongoing financial constraints.

Furthermore, his current market value of €75 million complicates the matter for the Blaugrana.

While the sporting fit is clear, the economic side of the deal remains far from straightforward.

Erling Haaland

Up next, Erling Haaland is seen internally as the ultimate statement signing.

Notably, Laporta has long admired the Norwegian striker, and from a purely footballing perspective, he represents the most complete solution.

Goals, physicality, and consistency at the highest level – Haaland guarantees all of it.

But realism quickly sets in given that his current contract with Manchester City runs until 2034 and the Premier League side will provide no concession whatsoever even if Barcelona attempt to make a move.

As such, the transfer fee and wages involved make this deal extremely unlikely at present.

Simply put, it remains more of a long-term aspiration than an immediate possibility.

Julian Alvarez

Among all the high-profile options, Julian Alvarez is beginning to stand out.

The Argentine forward is reportedly open to a new challenge, seeking a bigger role and the opportunity to compete for major titles as a central figure.

That profile aligns perfectly with Barcelona’s current project, and what makes him particularly appealing is his versatility.

He offers intelligent movement, relentless pressing, and sharp finishing – qualities that suit Flick’s tactical demands.

While he may not possess the same physical dominance as Osimhen or Haaland, his all-round game could make him a more natural fit within Barcelona’s system.

However, his price tag, reportedly over €100 million, will still be significant and on top of that, Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell him to a direct rival will play a major role too.

Vedat Muriqi

Barcelona are also keeping an eye on more affordable alternatives, ensuring they have contingency plans in place and in that sense, Vedat Muriqi is one such option

Known for his ability to deliver decisive goals, he represents a low-cost solution who could play a secondary role in the squad.

However, he is not viewed as a player capable of leading the line week in, week out, meaning Barcelona only see him as a squad player rather than a permanent fix.

Alexander Sørloth

There is another Atletico Madrid forward on the list, and luckily, he won’t cost Barcelona as much as Alvarez would.

In recent hours, Alexander Sørloth has emerged as a surprise target for the Blaugrana, as his €35 million release clause is quite attractive to ignore.

The Norwegian striker brings physicality and aerial strength to the table, attributes that Barcelona currently lack in their current roster.

He could provide a useful tactical variation, especially against deeper defensive blocks.

Still, doubts remain about whether he has the overall quality required to start consistently at the highest level.

Fisnik Asllani

Another name on the list is Fisnik Asllani, the youngest option being considered.

While he offers clear potential and long-term upside, this move would come with significant risk.

This is because Barcelona are not in a position where they can afford to experiment in such a crucial role.

The priority is immediate impact, and that is where Asllani currently falls short compared to the other candidates.

So far this season, he has only scored 10 goals and while it is a modest number for a young player, it does not match Barcelona’s ambition for a striker.
