Markus Krösche, Dino Toppmöller and Robin Koch with the reaction to the defeat at Werder Bremen.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “That was one of our worst performances, especially in the first half. We deserved to lose. We have to be at 100 percent and if not, it’s going to be difficult to win matches. We found that out the hard way and we have to learn from that – every individual and as a team. It’s not an attitude issue, it’s a learning curve. We need to be a lot more purposeful, look for the balls in behind and force the opponents into dangerous situations. We’ll address things.”
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We had no grip on the match in the first half, we weren’t alive or aggressive enough and lost a lot of second balls. Bremen were sharper, hungrier and better in the duels. We tried to do better in the second half but just weren’t good enough in possession today and didn’t have the right distances. We need to improve in that regard against Tottenham. It’s a painful defeat today. We have to produce 100 percent on the pitch in every match, which we didn’t do today.”
Robin Koch: “We lacked intensity. We had a lot of possession in midfield but hardly got into the danger areas. We knew it’s extremely difficult to play here. I have to give credit to Bremen, who were very good over 90 minutes. We’ve missed a big chance but we’re still in third place and want to win again next week.”
