Elliot Anderson came off after 63 minutes as Manchester City beat Bournemouth 2-1 yesterday. The England international suffered a knock to his leg after a collision with Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. It was feared that Anderson’s injury could have kept him out of Manchester City’s next match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday night. However, Enzo Maresca has seemingly put those fears to rest after his team’s spirited win at the Etihad Stadium.

Enzo Maresca revealed that Elliot Anderson was suffering from cramp which saw him substituted.

Speaking after yesterday’s match, Enzo Maresca was asked about the injury that Elliot Anderson sustained. The Manchester City manager told the media that he believed that Anderson was suffering from a severe case of cramp. He also praised Anderson’s efforts and those of Manchester City’s other players who have recently returned to the club after their World Cup efforts. Maresca said: “I think it was cramp. There are four or five players who are not 100% and he is one of them.”

“For them, it’s like pre-season. They arrive very late and started working with us 10 days ago. Their effort has been unbelievable.“

Manchester City will have their fingers crossed that Elliot Anderson will be available for their next match against Crystal Palace.

Manchester City will be relieved if Elliot Anderson only suffered from cramp against Bournemouth and has avoided an injury. City’s midfield is currently depleted but that situation is likely to change before the transfer window closes. However, Enzo Maresca’s side take on Crystal Palace on Friday night at Selhurst Park so the turnaround is short between games for City.

It remains to be seen whether Anderson will be available to play in that match. City will need their club record signing and he showed enough yesterday to indicate that he will be a very good player for Manchester City once he is at full fitness.
